What the Medicaid application covers varies from state to state. For example, the application is shorter in Missouri than it is in Illinois. However, there are some questions you can expect to find on both applications.

What does the Medicaid application cover and ask for?

Hi, I’m Wes Coulson and this is your Elder Law Minute. This is another in our series on the Medicaid Application Process and today I want to talk about what the Medicaid application covers and asks for.
First of all, it depends on what state you are in. The application is shorter in Missouri than it is in Illinois. In Illinois, especially if you’re applying for long-term care benefits, there are a number of attachments to the application.
They ask for information like, for instance, your identity obviously, your family members, other people who live in your household. They want to know about your facility. They need information regarding your assets. They need information regarding your income. They want to know if you’ve consulted with an attorney or other advisor with regard to planning before the application process. And they want to know if you have made any transfers of assets within the past five years. And if so, you need to tell them about those transfers of assets.
