Public Benefits and the Current Administration

In this Elder Law Minute, Kaye DeSelms Dent explains why proactive disability and Medicaid planning matters amid uncertainty about future public benefits.

Introduction

Hi, I’m Kaye DeSelms Dent with Dent Coulson Elder Law here with an elder law minute for you. Estate Planning and Disability Planning

We are an elder law firm and assist people with planning for their basic estate planning and really having a focus on disability planning. What happens between now and when you pass away since a lot of people can anticipate realistically they’re going to be disabled at some point.

Planning for Public Benefits and Long-Term Care

A lot of people, a lot of us are going to have to apply for public benefits at some time. For a lot of people, that is going to be um end of life type of care, nursing home care, and a lot of that is going to be paid for through Medicaid benefits.

Uncertainty About the Future

Those are subject to cuts by the current presidential administration. And a lot of people are worried. We have clients talking to us about this, asking us the whatifs. And the the really short unfortunate answer is we just don’t know what the future brings.

Why Planning Matters More Than Ever

But we know that it’s more important than ever to protect your assets and to be prepared for your future needs.

How Dent Coulson Elder Law Helps

For everyone who consults with us, we ask the prospective client to complete a form giving us information about their family, whether they’re married, single, divorced, widowed, and what their assets are as well, so that we can help advise on the type of plan that will protect you and your family best to ride out the uncertainties of the future.

Closing

Call us today for a consultation and we can discuss your unique circumstances in light of the current administration and what you may be able to do to again protect you, your family, and your assets from anything that might occur.
